When you use extra effort (p. 12) with one specific ability,
you can attune yourself to the Tao so effectively that the
resulting enhanced flow of chi is nearly spontaneous. To do
so, buy the Focus technique for that particular ability, and
are usually better off learning the former skill. However, if
Pharmacy (Herbal) does not exist in the setting, realistic
Herb Lore is a way to bring it in (at a premium cost), similar
to realistic Alchemy acting as a proxy for Chemistry.
