Dreamcrawler [LVL ]
(The dreamcrawler appeared for the first time
in KNOCK! #2.)
A warrior of the Northern Raiders who
could not find their way to the afterlife.
They haunt their burial grounds, calling
on the gods who have forgotten them by
challenging mortals to fight them honou-
rably. They can only do so by entering their
chosen opponent's dreams.

  • The haunting: The dreamcrawler chooses

the character with the highest Charisma.
When the character falls asleep, they must
roll Doom.
• If the Doom die downgrades, the cha-
racter is now haunted and drawn into a
night duel. (See below.)
• If not, the dreamcrawler gives up and
returns to oblivion for now.

  • The night duel: The character dreams of

a gloomy, luminescent warrior rushing at
them with weapons drawn. Roll initiative.
• If the character hits first, the dream ends.
• If the dreamcrawler hits first, the cha-
racter loses 1 level, and the dream ends.
Reaching level 0, the character dies and
the dreamcrawler accompanies them to
their deserved afterlife.
In any case, the duel happens again the
next time the character goes to sleep
unless a WIS test is made (in which case
the dreamwalker goes back to haunting
12
by Nobboc
its burying grounds until the haunted
character goes to sleep again).
There are only two ways to break free:
beat the dreamcrawler three nights in a
row or have an expensive ritual performed
by a priest of the Forbidden City.
