Unsettling Aura. Animals are always disturbed by the presence of a hybrid. Dogs bark, horses refuse to be ridden, etc.

New monster by Nobboc, AKA "The Deep Ones".

When men were just beginning to roam the world, the Deep Ones were already an ancient civilization of IMMORTAL FISH-LIKE HUMANOIDS, settled all over the depths of the ocean. They hate the surface world but sometimes make pacts with coastal populations. They believe they must increase their numbers and further the unfathomable machinations of the arch-demon DAGON, their father.

"We shall dive down through black abysses...and in that lair of the Deep Ones we shall dwell amidst wonder and glory forever." — H.P. Lovecraft

A HYBRID'S LIFE

We're no psychology majors. Living a Hybrid's life must be a complex experience. We have opted for the caricature, and it should be well enough for our purpose. Hybrids are hateful pariahs who try to survive clandestinely among people before joining the Sons of Dagon.

Childhood: Nothing sets a hybrid child apart from a human child. Other children can sometimes feel a difference, as do animals; the latter mostly flee, but attacks aren't unheard of. Hybrids often have a solitary childhood, bullied and cast out by older kids who can sense there is something wrong with them.

Adolescence: In their teenage years, a hybrid dreams of comforting darkness, of a mother calling them, of an undersea palace in a twilit world full of life strange and exciting. At this stage the first physical changes appear. The hybrid is torn between two feelings, afraid of and attracted to their true nature. They start to seek the company of others like them and move away from their human family who have often rejected them anyway.

Adulthood: The hybrid becomes a pariah among humans, who attribute their abnormal appearance to a disease, a curse, some kind of sorcery, fuelled in any case to a confused sense of danger. Dreams have become visions, of an immortal master, underwater hunts, and a loving tribe that beckons from the darkness. The only way to keep some semblance of sanity is to accept the insane: their true, inhuman nature. Human civilisation becomes for them a necessary evil until the final goal is accomplished and not a single talking ape remains on the surface world. Until then, they wait, ready to answer the Call of Dagon.

At years: Physical changes dramatically occur every day. The hybrid hardly looks like a human being anymore. In a state of confusion, they head for the sea, discard their clothes and dive, never to return. They quickly mutate into a true Deep One, joining the ranks of their new clan and only keeping dim memories of their surface life.

Result of the mating of a Deep One female and a human, insidiously swapped at birth with babies who ended up sacrificed to Dagon and devoured. As they age, they develop physical traits (round eyes, sharp teeth, squamous skin, extra folds of skin on the sides of the neck) that could betray their true nature to a scholarly individual. Most hear the call of the depths when reaching adulthood, and end up diving into the ocean never to return. They then become true Deep Ones.
