The Necropoli is a realm of bone-and-stone cities. Its primary stronghold was built out from a fortress conquered generations ago by a spellsword named Jevin. The living subjects of the Necropoli are divided between the menial and working-class jobs keeping the metropolitan cities buzzing and agricultural labor in the ranching and farming communities beyond the city walls. The most privileged mortals are granted un-death for their service to the overlord, and while the undead aristocracy enjoys eternal decadence, the mortal peasantry scrambles to keep their heads above water financially. In life, Jevin was a renowned spellsword and servant of Karzan the ice dragon, granted privileges and status within the realm. It was not enough for Jevin, so he betrayed his liege and helped Xivar kill Karzan in exchange for half of Karzan’s territory. Jevin was a well-traveled man, and in the unlife granted him by the siphoned magic, he has built a cosmopolitan city. Jevin keeps his subjects on the edge of destitution through control of jobs, prices, and more.
