The walls of this chamber are lined with dozens of small niches, each containing a skull. At the center of this macabre gallery is a simple sarcophagus carved from a single slab of grey stone.
The untold secrets of Amun Tor’s worshippers are intended to be sacred and maintained by his worshippers, even beyond death. This vault is a place for the deceased worshippers of Amun Tor to have their remains interred so they will be protected from the magic of diviners and necromancers who might compel the deceased to reveal their knowledge. Upon anyone entering the room, the lid of the sarcophagus slides open, and an awakened mummy guardian rises from its resting place to defend the vault.
Mummy: Init ; Atk choke melee (///etc.); Crit U/; AC 11; HD (hp 29); MV 20’; Act ; SP damage reduction 5, mummy rot, vulnerable to fire (takes double damage), un-dead traits; SV Fort , Ref , Will ; AL C.
Un-dead traits: As un-dead, the mummy can be turned by a cleric and is immune to sleep, charm, and paralysis spells, as well as other mental effects, poison, and cold damage.
Choke: On the first round the mummy succeeds in a choke
attack, it deals damage as it throttles its target. If the mummy succeeds in a second attack, the next attack causes damage. If the third attack succeeds, the attack causes damage, and so on until its attack fails or its victim is suffocated.
Mummy rot: Any character that takes damage from a mummy may contract mummy rot (DC 12 Fortitude save to avoid). Mummy rot causes the victim’s body to slowly shrivel and desiccate. Affected characters take 1 Stamina damage each day and are constantly thirsty. The Stamina damage will not heal naturally until the rot is arrested by magic.
Treasure: The northern vault’s skulls belonged to scribes and spellcasters. The following spell scrolls can be found rolled up within the skulls: Ekim’s mystical mask, ward portal, and forget. An iron ring worn by the mummy is set with a moonstone worth 150 gp. Inside the sarcophagus is a simple brass music box worth 75 gp.
