The judge may modify the description’s last sentence if PCs have changed the ball-gravity (see area 5A).
This golden room is almost cubic, with each surface faintly glowing. The left wall shares a window with a large audience area, and the right shares a window with a smaller chamber. The walls in front of and behind the floor’s entrance each have a one-foot diameter glowing blue portal in their centers. The ceiling has a rack holding swords, maces, and a metallic cylinder with a fingerlever. A silver sphere, 6 inches in diameter, rests on the floor, next to two sets of four silvery waistbelts that are clamped in place.
Here winged warriors train and compete, sometimes with weapons, and sometimes playing gravity-ball in two teams of four. Throwing the silver sphere through a portal rings a buzzer, updates the scoreboard in area 5C, and makes the ball appear in the center of the current “floor.” The portals only work for the ball. As mentioned in area 5A, once a PC wears a belt, she becomes subject to the current ballgravity. PCs that “fall” along a surface to an adjacent one must make a DC 14 Reflex save or take damage. PCs that fall to the opposite surface (e.g., ceiling to floor) take damage (given the room’s dimensions, gravity is a tad stronger than what PCs are used to). Climbing the chamber’s smooth surfaces is extremely difficult (DC 20).
The rack on the ceiling is locked (DC 14 pick lock, or use key from area 2); it holds 4 longswords, 4 maces, and a stun gun. When retrieved, the gun has + PC’s Luck modifier shots remaining. Although it’s simple to use (point and squeeze the trigger), it’s unfamiliar; treat it as a trained weapon but with a -1d attack penalty, e.g., attack rather than . Victims suffer shock damage, and must pass a DC 16 Will save or be stunned helpless for rounds. Range is 60’/120’/180’.
