The City’s trash heap is called the Mount of Broken Amphorae for good reason: clayware is by far the largest type of refuse that the City produces. Here, broken crockery is heaped high into piles. These hills are deadly sharp; a fall from their heights is death. It is frequently used as a place of executions by criminal gangs.
The Mount is inhabited by a population of homeless people and a large breed of terrible albino cats; they are bitter rivals. Both groups sift through and scavenge the City’s garbage. The homeless sell scavenged bits to merchants of the Omphalic Market. Nobody knows what the cats do with the things they collect.
Sensations:
The terrible reek of refuse: not just garbage, but hot garbage. Flies buzz in thick clouds. An albino cat, daintily walking down one of the hills of broken clay triggers a small avalanche. The tinkling sound of breaking earthenware and shattering glass.
Rumor:
The cats have a marketplace of their own in the far realm of the Weird. Sometimes, they trade the garbage of the Mount of Broken Amphorae for things lost in the Underworld, then hoard these things in their dens.
Special City Action:
- Doodlebug: To go searching among the broken refuse is called “doodlebugging.” Declare that you’re looking for one item that you lost in the Underworld—not an item that was destroyed, given away, or stolen—legitimately lost. You have a 50% chance to find this exact item while doodlebugging.
