VII of Swords

In the shadow of one of the City’s many hills sits the Shrine of Teeth. The name is taken from the shrines in this district where parents offer their children’s milk teeth to pray for their health. Said to be a place of healing springs in ancient times, the district is still a place where leechcraft is practiced (though the volcanic vents have shifted and left the springs cold).

During the early days of the Underworld, the Cult turned the wayside shrines found in this district into hospitals for crusaders. Though active Crusades are no longer happening, the hospitals remain—though now defunded by the Cult.

Sensations:

The cries of crippled beggars follow you down the street. Clay jars filled with milk teeth sit half-buried in the earth. Digging into the hill like maggots, homeless leechwives make crude shelters. You can smell the lingering scent of brimstone and briny water.

Rumors:

It’s whispered that those who dwell at the Shrine of Teeth know some magic that can shape animate limbs from the clay of that place—for a price.

Special City Action:

  • Fit prosthetics: If you’ve lost a limb, you can find a (crude) prosthetic at the Shrine of Teeth. Leechwives will measure you for peg legs, affix hooks to your stump, and paint false eyes. There is no cost for this prosthetic outside of the use of a City Action.
