The Street of Heretics

The Cult of Mythrys is the predominant religion in the City, but it is by no means the only one. The Veneration of the Feathered Swine, the Followers of Issek of the Jug, the Cult of the God Twins, the elven Tripartite, and dozens of other faiths have significant numbers of adherents. These fringe religious communities gather on the Street of Heretics. Congregating in a single district allows these minority communities to avoid persecution and political pressures elsewhere. Because each sect is more or less in the same boat, they are remarkably tolerant of each other.

Sensations:

Different architectural styles crowd the street: outdoor fanes jostle for position with temples, shrines, cathedrals, and tabernacles. A riot of steeples. Religious costumes also vary widely (although many of them feature strikingly tall hats). Prayers to a dozen strange gods are uttered in a dozen languages. The smoke of incense roils towards the heavens. A silver horn sounds: a call to worship.

Rumor:

The Church of the Snake’s doomsday recently came and went. This Day of Second Skin was observed only by a few, and the prophesied end of the world never quite materialized. However, adventuring guilds have recently reported that a gigantic serpent has appeared within the Underworld. Could this giant serpent be the one foretold by the Snake worshipers?
