The Temple of Strength

A sacred gymnasium dedicated to the eighth incarnation of the Monad. Exercise and games of all kinds are practiced here. Participants in the City’s public games gather here to train and socialize. It is a spectacle of aesthetics aspiring toward peak physical perfection.

For the most part, those entering the Temple of Strength disrobe completely. Artists and sculptors linger here to perform anatomical studies on the athletes.

Sensations:

The scents of sweat, oil, and analgesic mingle in the air. Men and women strain in concert, in conflict, or alone. Sand scrapes against the floor as two wrestlers attempt to gain purchase against each other. A gymnasiarch counts rhythmically to structure some exercise. The air is cool and damp from the bath steam.

Special City Actions:

• Get autographs: One of the most celebrated athletes in the City is willing to give autographs to promising young athletes who frequent the Temple of Strength.

• Wrestle Hereclus: Nobody is able to defeat Hereclus the Strong in wrestling as long as his feet are on solid ground. There is a standing prize of 500g for whoever is able to beat him. So far, no one has been successful.
