The Dragonbone Memorial
Dungeon SeedHis Majesty the Worm Β· p.363
Open source p.363When humans stole the Well of Souls, the dragon city of Night crumbled away into dust. In the span of ages since, dragons have painstakingly remade the city out of the bones of their dead in the Underworld. Why? Nobody knows. Nobody knows anything about how or why dragons do anything. Orcs call this city the Dragonbone Memorial. A sect of religious fanatic orcs believes the Dragonbone Memorial to be their promised land. There is inter-factional disagreement about whether they should lead the orcish nations down into the Underworld or move the dragonbone city up to the surface piece by piece.
Sights
Narrow streets suddenly give way to a spacious square. A fountain depicts a serpent devouring its own tail. The fountain is full of blood.
Sounds
Dripping water. Very distantly, chimes like a Tibetan bowl. An ominous rumbling seems to be coming from somewhere below.
Smell and taste
The lingering haze of an electrical fire.
Lighting
Although some creatures (like goblins and orcs) carry torches, the memorial itself provides no sources of light.
Structures
The walls of the city are dry-stack bones. The roads are paved with crushed oyster shells. Buildings are composed of colossal, fossilized creatures reshaped into ancient architecture, each room no longer serving a meaningful purpose. Doors are made of fossilized wood.
