XII The Hanged Man
Trump XII β€” The Hanged Man

When the first human died, it took everybody by surprise. As necromancers furiously tried to solve the problem of eternal life, one sorceress took a bold new approach. This sorceress had a daughter and named her Xania. She named them all Xania. Through magic, she cloned her daughter thousands upon thousands of times. The sorceress automated these processes, and has long since perished. The processes continue. Xania survives. In an enchanted tower in the Underworld, magical cloning labs work continuously to unstitch and reweave the same person, over and over. There are hundreds of Xanias. Some are saner than others, but none are particularly sane. At least, not how humans think of it.

Sights

The most common material in this dungeon level is human flesh. Tapestries are woven of human hair. Books are bound in human skin. Furniture is made out of human bones. Meals are made out ofβ€”you guessed it! (Xanias do not think of this as weird. It’s a little like masturbation, maybe.)

Sounds

The sounds of a working castle: women gossiping, the crying of babies, the birth-sacs filling with liquid, nightsoil being emptied, floors being swept, etc.

Smell and taste

It smells like a birthing room.

Lighting

Candelabras of human-fat candles provide bright light to most rooms. Hallways are dark.

Structures

The rooms are made of crumbling stone. Doors are made of metal. Locked doors are heavily reinforced. Furniture is strangely well-made, though in an Ed Gein pastiche.
