Open source p.395If your players are familiar with our graphic novel Rickety Stitch and the Gelatinous Goo they might get a kick out of encountering the dynamic duo in the wild, as well as the hero Epoli. Rickety Stitch and Gooey are on the Road to Epoli, heading west out of the Mucklands along the Great Slog.
quests ONE BAD SHOW
An angry mob chases Rickety Stitch and the Goo on the road. It's a long story, but they played a show at Wally's Waffles and Weorgs, things turned sideways, and now several disgruntled bar patrons want the skeleton bard dead. Even more dead than he already is!
- The mob is just minutes behind on the road.
- Led by Brunt Manheel (BANDIT L3-B), the angry mob wants to destroy Rickety Stitch for being a horrible skeleton—“gloomwork” as they call it. They also don't like how they were subjected to his foofy music either. In fact, they would like a refund (even though they didn't actually pay for anything.)
- Brunt Manheel hates skeletons because he used to be an Unassailable Co. miner but was fired by management and replaced with skeletons (cheap labor). That led him down a path of glog and banditry.
SURE TO BE ETTIN FOOD
Rickety Stitch and the Goo need help crossing the Sounder Hills (p380) to the Drippy Drop River (p43). The Land of Eem is way more dangerous than they thought. But this is their life now. They've made their choice and there's no turning back. They're men of the road. Anyway, can you be a lamb and escort them?
- Unfortunately, it's an ETTIN holiday called Fire Night when they all come out with torches to rustle up trouble and howl at the moon.
- Staying in one place to camp for the night results in one ETTIN encounter after another.
CALL OF THE NECROMANCER
A small gelatinous goo frantically flags you down on the road. It's hard to understand him, but he relays that his friend has gone missing overnight, and his tracks disappear into Whisperdale Meadow (p50). Will you help the Goo find his friend?
- Last night, Rickety Stitch was magically drawn to the necromancer Zagon the Spirit Catcher who dwells in a cave at the foot of the mountains near Whisperdale Meadow (Hex 9.5).
- Gooey is worried sick that Rickety has gotten into big trouble. He's only seen it a few times before, but sometimes the skeleton bard goes into a trance-like state and wanders away.
- At the necromancer's cave, Zagon and Rickety are merely talking over tea. Zagon is very interested in Rickety and how he came to be, which the skeleton finds flattering.
- In truth, Zagon's magic is what unwittingly summoned Rickety Stitch.
- Eventually, a group of skeletal GHOSTS (L5-G) arrive at the cave and attack. They are the restless spirits and minions of an ancient LICH that once fought a battle on these grounds (see quest The Spirit Catcher p51). Rickety's presence, along with the necromancer's meddling, awakened the LICH.
