Anchorbottom
LocationMucklands Sandbox Campaign Setting · p.289
Open source p.289Hex 42.26. Anchorbottom, or the Skeleton Yard as many locals call it, is made of PIRATE galleons and Felmog carracks that were either hauled from the ocean floor, or left to rot under the sun. Few inhabitants live in Anchorbottom, save a number of sailors and adventurers that commune in the only watering hole, a little place called Triumph Tavern.
sights and sounds
1. Seals bathe in the sunlight, barking at a group of seabirds that have congregated around the hull of a half dismantled galleon.
2. A goblin, poorly hidden in a pile of stinky kelp, looks around the beach with a handheld telescope.
3. A bunch of waterlogged rats swim to shore and collapse with exhaustion when they reach the beach.
4. A whalen hammers a wooden peg into a ship and the hull splits. The whalen curses loudly.
5. A quortle rests on a rock near a tide pool, feet dangling in the water.
6. A tiny boggle child wearing a straw hat collects seashells in a pail with a dog at his side.

quests
THE KIDNAPPING OF AUTOMATIC DAN
Betty the Shipwright is beside herself. Her assistant, and dare she say only friend, Automatic Dan, has been kidnapped and she's certain it was those goons from Unassailable Co. She believes they intend to experiment on Automatic Dan at their headquarters in the Used T'Be forest. Find him and bring him home safely!
- Automatic Dan is on a secret vessel, Silent Stalker, an Unassailable Co. vault ship filled with guards, traps, and obstacles—a RANDOM DUNGEON.
- Once on shore, Unassailable Co. transports Automatic Dan in an armored war wagon to their fortress headquarters, where breaking in is nigh impossible.
THE GHOST SHIP
There's a spooky rumor going around that a GHOST ship sails the waters around Anchorbottom and southern Quagmash. No one knows if it's abandoned or haunted, but Betty will pay a handsome price to anyone who sails it into Anchorbottom for salvage.
- A ghostly crew lives aboard the ship called the Foam Rider. They only let the PCs sail the ship if their deaths are avenged.
- The crew, wispy green specters, were once Felmog Mariners from faraway Kreeth. The crew sailed to the Scalawag Strand with a mighty fortune meant to build a castle and set roots in the Mucklands, but PIRATES led by a short fellow called Wally the Freebooter stole it! The Felmogs attempted to steal back the fortune, but were too late. Their master had arrived and was furious. The GHOSTS maintain that they were loyal, honorable sailors, but their lord didn't care. Ulfrex the Cruel did not get his name for being kind, after all. He executed the crew, and they have sailed the Strand ever since.
- The GHOSTS want revenge against Ulfrex, their former master. Revenge against Wally the Freebooter would suffice though.
- Ulfrex the Cruel has not been seen for many years, however it is said that a black ship with an iron bow is anchored at Terror Island, packed to the gills with FELMOG KNIGHTS.
- If the PCs defeat Ulfrex or bring Wally to justice, the GHOSTS grant them ownership of the Foam Rider.
- HEROIC TITLE ACHIEVEMENT: Defeat Ulfrex the Cruel or capture Wally the Freebooter and see him brought to justice.
- Captain of the Foam Rider•. PC is the new captain of a galleon with an armored hull and drakewing sails (see Captain Betty's Jetty p289).
MAKE SOME CLAMS
Smiley Malarkey has found the next big money making scheme, and he'll let you in on it. All you have to do is go to the tidepools around Jelly Key and find what's called a calculation clam, a marvel of nature that crunches probabilities. The things are worth a fortune to the right buyers, and Smiley has a buyer already lined up.
- Calculation clams are valuable to engineers and scientists throughout all of Eem.
- The clams are difficult to find, and the Daggerheart Pirates poach them for their own nefarious purposes. Captain Daggerheart is convinced that a staff of calculation clams would hone his decision making and lead to extreme profit and prosperity.
- Smiley's buyer is actually the Daggerhearts.
