The Drippy Downs

South of Trollridge lies the Highwilds, a lush green zone of forest hills and mountains, where troggles patrol in colonies, and flocks of wyverns skitter about searching for prey. Aside from perhaps the Nameless Lake, the Highwilds is the most dangerous, untamed zone in all the Drippy Downs.

THE HARROWING HILLS

Steep green hills covered in thick forest and underbrush. The area is rife with herbs of all kinds. When Picking Herbs in the Harrowing Hills, PCs roll from the entire Herb Components list instead of just the Drippy Downs region. However, a failure results in a Dangerous or Perilous Encounter.

WILDRUN RIVER

Roaring rapids bisect the Highwilds and Trollridge (p382). Few ever travel from Muckland Harbor into the Highwilds on the Wildrun due to the dangerous waters and even more dangerous beasts that lurk along its winding course: freshwater SQUIDGEONS, BARBECUDAS, and LIGHTNING EELS, not to mention TROGGLES that roam along the riverbanks.

  • The Gaping Maw, a treacherous cave network in the Highwilds, is thought to be an ancient bugbear tomb, full of treasure.

GRANNY THREETEETH

An ancient gnome hermit living high up in a wurlwood tree. Unlike other gnomes, she cares little for titles and doesn't even wear her gnome hat anymore. Locals mistake her for a witch, but beneath her old, cranky exterior, she cares deeply about the world.

  • Traits: Hems and haws, shuffles slowly, keeps lots of pets.
  • Motivation: Watch over the wildlands and keep them from being overrun by fiends.

OKK

A simple TROGGLE, Okk is desperate for help but has never communicated with outsiders before. All of his tribe has turned to the dark ways of the sarpathi, and worst of all, his mate Lokka is captured. Okk once considered himself a strong warrior, but he cannot face such evil alone.

  • Traits: Desperate, brave, less talk more action.
  • Motivation: Rid the Highwilds of the Cult of Ehk and save his mate Lokka from their clutches.

THE TROUBLE WITH TROGGLES

The TROGGLES of the Highwilds have become a serious nuisance for Granny Threeteeth. They have gotten more aggressive and deadly, and now Granny Threeteeth can't even stroll in the wilderness without another run-in. Go be a dear and investigate the root of the problem.

  • The encroaching sarpathi have enlisted local troggle tribes into their serpent cult, teaching them foul magic, and using them to find the Eyes of the Ekh.
  • Rekk the White-Eye, the most powerful TROGGLE warlord in the zone, is fully indoctrinated, and now a hierophant (as SARPATHI HIEROPHANT, L6-6). He has even destroyed a kin-tribe that didn't fall in line. Rekk's cave is a RANDOM DUNGEON. In the final chamber is Rekk and another SARPATHI HIEROPHANT (L8-C).

A TROGGLE IN NEED

Okk the TROGGLE approaches cautiously. In broken folk tongue he manages to explain that he comes in peace. His mate Lokka, the leader of his tribe, has been captured by a rival tribe loyal to the sarpathi. His tribe has surrendered to them. Help Okk save his mate!

  • The rival tribe, led by an Ekh loyalist called Unda, has a cavern encampment deep in the Highwilds. Lokka is to be sacrificed during a ritual to Ekh.

THE GOLDEN WYVERN

A Big Fame Hunter named Olly Hamhawk (p37) almost got herself killed hunting the Golden WYVERN, and is going back to Dunk in shameful defeat. She encourages you to slay the golden WYVERN. The dangerous critter lives deep in the Highwilds, but there's a big reward to be had in Puddle Point (p154).

  • The Golden WYVERN (L10-C) hunts solo in the Highwilds.
  • HEROIC TITLE ACHIEVEMENT: Defeat the golden WYVERN.
  • Hero of Highwilds•. TROGGLES of the Highwilds are thankful forever after, providing food and shelter. Additionally, gain Advantage on Parley Checks with hunters of any ilk.
