The Snake Shrine

Hex 12.21. A colossal stone structure hewn in the shape of a snake head rising ominously from the ground. Not many remember who built the shrine, or for what purpose, and due to its location next to the perilous Nameless Lake, not many care to investigate.

Despite the secret underground sarpathi population dwelling in the Forgotten City below the shrine, the shrine itself is largely empty as the city cannot be accessed from the shrine. Beyond the rising stairs, and inside the shrine's great chamber, there is a mysterious stone altar with seven sockets, guarded by a giant snake named Ka'rul.

OLLY HAMHAWK

A bugbear Big Fame Hunter wandering the Mucklands in search of the toughest challenges. She loves nothing more than the thrill of the hunt, just her against the world. But lately, Olly has gotten into a few close scrapes that have made her question going solo.

KA'RUL

An ancient SARGOG that was drawn to the Arch Hierophant Zar'Sharaz from the High Wilds. Ka'Rul is now a loyal vassal of the sarpathi. They sleep during the day, guarding the shrine, and hunt at night to feed on local wildlife or hapless travelers. Sometimes the Arch Hierophant brings the great snake a meal of blasphemers.

The Big Fame Hunter, Olly Hamhawk, has been traveling the Drippy Downs looking for a good hunt, and more than a few times she's gotten in over her head. She recently tracked a giant snake inside the Snake Shrine, but she needs help to take it down. She'll give you each

what's going on

• The sarpathi do not occupy the shrine for fear of drawing too much attention to themselves and their Forgotten City.
• Every seven days the Arch Hierophant Zar'Sharaz secretly prays at the shrine in the dead of night.
• A Lore Check reveals that inside the shrine is the Altar of Ehk, upon which the Seven Eyes of Ehk would be placed to summon the sarpathi god Ehk.

• A giant snake sleeps within the Snake Shrine, wrapped around a strange altar.
• At midnight, a GHOST goes in and out of the Snake Shrine. 1 pouch of Silver Coins when the head is returned to Puddle Point (p154).
• The giant snake is the sarpathi guardian, Ka'Rul (SARGOG L6-C). If the PCs attack at night, there's a 1-in-6 chance that Arch Hierophant Zar'Sharaz (SARPATHI HIEROPHANT L10-C) is there.
