Ulga's Mine

Hex 5.11. This glittering mine is home to a despicable DWEORG miner called Ulga and her labor force of gelatinous goos. Ulga purchased the mine from a goblin tycoon who was done with the place, but Ulga believed its resources remain undiscovered.

In possession of strange magic bells, Ulga has mind- controlled a small army of gelatinous goos to sniff out and mine a fortune of gems and precious metals. All the while, the dweorg sits on her butt munching on snacks and reading bad romance novels.

ULGA

A DWEORG miner who rules over a group of gelatinous goos that sniff out precious gems and minerals for her. Ulga seems complacent and lazy, even cheerful, that she doesn't need to lift a finger with so many loyal goos around.

• Traits: Lazy and cruel, hates being inerrupted, twitches when angry.
• Motivation: Find a big payday.

NEEDRIK

A SPITHRA hired by Ulga to play her magic carillon. Needrik is happy to have a captive audience, as it were. He once played the organ for the King of Munch, and even filled in a spot on the Bogtown Philharmonic! But those days are long gone, and it's nice to be appreciated.

• Traits: Attention starved, delusional, lives in the past.
• Motivation: Keep his job as a working, paid musician.

MOOP

A gelatinous goo living in Ulga's colony of goos. Moop might be considered the leader of the goos who work for Ulga. Somehow, Moop isn't entirely under Ulga's control. That said, Moop is afraid to challenge her on his own.

• Traits: Plucky, hopeful, but frightened.
• Motivation: Free themself and the other mind-controlled goos from Ulga's bells.

THE BIG SECRET

A goo named Moop introduces themself and beckons you over. Moop shares that they are keeping a big secret and if you can help them all escape from Ulga, they'll share it.

• The goos are mind-controlled by Ulga's magic carillon, an organ-like instrument with a huge set of 30 ringing bells. Moop, however, has learned to momentarily resist the magic with their strong will if they are far enough away from the bells.

what's going on

• Ulga captured gelatinous goos and forced them to sniff out precious minerals under the spell of her magic bells.
• A goo named Moop has partially resisted the spell of the bells, but needs help to escape with all of their goo brethren.

rumors

• Gelatinous goos are being forced to work in Ulga's Mine against their will.
• If the PCs stop or get rid of the bells, the goos have a chance to escape. But Ulga's group of GUARDVARKS (L3-B) patrol the mine with a watchful eye, and Needrik is always playing the carillon.
• The carillon bells themselves are massive, made from sturdy copper.
• Moop's big secret is that they already found a massive treasure of gems and gold deep inside the mine. But Moop has been diverting Ulga's attention from the area.
