Creature cells
RoomDI MB1 · p.53
Open source p.53A tiled corridor leads to five doors with plaques naming the relevant creatures. All doors are open; each room contains an 8'-tall glass and brass cylinder.
→ Cylinders:
- The bone-gobbler and slime golem cylinders are empty; the glass casings have been smashed from the outside (by the possessed murderer).
- The three-headed ogre and destructor cylinders still contain said creatures, looking similar to their statues in D.
- The blood parasite cylinder's lid is open; languid greenish vapors float out of it. The blood parasite is inside, but invisible amongst the vapors. If the characters seal the cylinder again, the parasite is trapped. The smell of fresh blood immediately draws it out (from a recent wound, for example...). Check WIS to avoid possession (success means immunity from further attempts). The victim immediately grows claws and attacks the nearest living being with no regard for its own safety. The victim can try to regain control each round by checking WIS again but must roll a Resisting Possession Δ6 for each attempt. If the die fizzles, the character's soul is consumed and the possession is permanent.
If the possessed character is killed, the parasite returns to the cylinder. Destroying it would require powerful ritual magic and expensive components.
