MEMO — THE ORGANIZATION OF DUNGEON, INC. p.14
How to make a profit managing a dungeon
The business of Dungeon, Inc. consists of attracting adventurers to an area the company controls, bumping them off, and looting their corpses of anything of value. The hosts are the foot soldiers in this business model; they are the ones who risk their lives confronting the adventurers. They need to be recruited and paid. They are sent to the right place at the right time by the Supervision section, who use magic to determine the whereabouts and power level of the adventurers.
To remain interesting to its clientele, Dungeon, Inc. must always be creating new and different experiences, spreading rumors, developing marketing campaigns to attract attention to the Dungeon, etc.
All this requires funds and, therefore, investors. Generally rich and remorseless, these investors are treated like royalty when they visit the company (doubtless, some of them are royalty). Investors mean profits, and these patrons take the first cut.
Last but not least, the organization requires efficient logistics to house and feed the employees of the Dungeon, to manage their gear, to map the locations, and many other small but vital jobs that contribute to running the Dungeon.
Company organization
The following pages describe the company's organization in detail. Along with a description of each division, department, and section, you'll find a few motivational slogans seen on posters in each department. Each section also has examples of favors (thumbs-up and services – see p. 49 for detailed rules), as well as ideas for colleague NPCs and secondments – missions for sections other than Reception. Note that the names listed for high-ups are suggestions for the DM.
The Overseer-in-Chief
The overseer-in-chief is Mister Noir. He is the founder of the company and its only ever leader. Not much is known about him, and very few employees have ever met him (and these are all bigwigs). Mr. Noir, aside from his team (personal assistants, private secretaries, etc.) has only two subordinates.
Strategy Division
In charge of the long-term vision of the company — finances, recruiting, patron relations, developing ideas for new aeries, etc.
Vice-overseer of Strategy: Aacarcerax, an undead wizard (otherwise known as a lich) whose superior intelligence contributes to planning the expansion of Dungeon, Inc. (Aacarcerax, cunning and haughty lich)

The Overseers
TREASURY DEPARTMENT
Accounting
d10 STAFF“A copper saved is a copper earned.”
This section runs the finances of Dungeon, Inc. Besides day-to-day accounting tasks, they build an annual budget that anticipates the revenues of Dungeon, Inc. and allocates resources to each department in order to secure that revenue. Reselling valuables from client loot at the best possible price is Accounting's responsibility.

Patron Relations
d10 STAFF“Always remember who butters the rations.”
attract patrons likely to invest in the development of Dungeon, Inc. and maintain good relations with them (through special events, butt-kissing, and various meetings). They negotiate with Accounting how much the patrons are paid out from the annual profits.

LIVE RESOURCES DEPARTMENT
Recruiting
d10 STAFF“The most useful skill is the one you have already mastered.”
Identify the skills necessary for the different missions of Dungeon, Inc., and recruit candidates that have them. The candidates are often from the ranks of creatures that frequent the Dungeon or (more rarely) former clients. For highly specialized profiles, Recruiting must sometimes search beyond the confines of the Dungeon.

Internal Relations
d10 STAFF“It's all about the work environment.”
Why send expensive resources (hosts) to eliminate clients if one can instead place assets across their path (denizens) who will do the same work for no pay? The role of Internal Relations is to attract people and monsters adapted to the various Dungeon aeries so they might eliminate (or at least weaken) adventurers.

Termination
d10 STAFF“See it. Slay it. Sorted.”
The secret of the existence and the nature of Dungeon, Inc., is an important part of its survival. This is where the Termination Section comes into play. Officially, it handles contract closures with employees. Unofficially, it eliminates those who could reveal the company's secrets. And ex-employees are at the top of the list. They are also in charge of ending contracts with dishonest employees.

MARKETING DEPARTMENT
DESIGN DEPARTMENT
FACILITIES DEPARTMENT
Maintenance
d10 STAFF“A small fix today avoids a collapse tomorrow.”
Maintenance is vital to Dungeon, Inc.'s smooth operations. Most employees think Maintenance people spend their time rearming traps and repairing furniture, but they are equally responsible for the denizen and work areas of the Dungeon, such as the cantinas and the dozen other services that employees regularly take advantage of.

Supplies
d10 STAFF“If you don't know who owns it, the company does.”
Supplies has a dual mission. First, they take care of everyone's equipment needs: kitbags for Reception, tools for Maintenance, gear for Surveying, crystal balls for Supervision, etc. Second, they organize the collection of clients' possessions. They must determine what has value (and send it to Accounting) and what can be reused on future missions.
Open section file →
Surveying
d10 STAFF“Our maps are the Dungeon's most precious treasure.”
Regularly visiting the aeries (open to clients or not) and maintaining accurate mapping records. The maps aren't only used by bruisers on a mission, but also by Marketing to avoid reinventing the wheel for new aeries they design, by Maintenance to allocate refurbishment efforts, by Supervision to pinpoint client observations, etc. Mapping is the most frequent cause of employee complaints.

CLIENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Supervision
d10 STAFF“To see is to know. To know is to win.”
To know, at any time, which clients are where in the Dungeon so hosts can be sent to take care of the problematic ones – the ones that didn't die from the aerie's denizens ands traps. It is rumored (by malicious, disgruntled members of staff, no doubt) that these same resources are just as often used to spy on the employees.
Open section file →
Reception
d10 STAFF“A good client is a dead client.”
The backbone of Dungeon, Inc.'s business model; Reception's staff are in charge of eliminating and looting the clients. It is by far the largest team in the company, but also the one with the highest mortality rate, and therefore the highest turnover.
Open section file →
EXPANSION DEPARTMENT
Exploration
d10 STAFF“Keep Calm and Delve On.”
For new clients to show up, new aeries are needed. The good news is, the depths of the Dungeon are for all intents and purposes infinite. The bad news is that most of these locales are poorly known and perilous. The Exploration Section investigates and secures these locations so that new aeries can be built.
Open section file →
Reconditioning
d10 STAFF“Reduce, reuse, recondition.”
Build client aeries in those new parts of the Dungeon secured by Exploration. The concepts are produced by Design (within the Marketing Department), but Reconditioning does the actual work. This often implies that both teams must compromise to limit costs (or to bring some of Marketing's loftier ideas back to the prime material plane.)
