The Punkin Patch

Hex 36.14. Deep within the Forlorn Fields is a dilapidated old barn nestled under a massive elm tree, surrounded by a rotten pumpkin patch. Hidden in the darkened barn is a cellar door that leads to the underground hideout of the Punkin Gang, a cult of PUNKINS. When not terrorizing the countryside, they chant a haunting rhyme:

Ol' King Nack is a cranky old soul. Got a big yellow frown and he's skinny as a pole. Don't tramp his patch, don't sully his knoll. 'Cause he'll roast your feet over red hot coal!

• A Mucklands Nursery Rhyme There is always a horde of PUNKINS (L5-G) at the hideout at any given time.

• Old King Nack leads the PUNKINS. Some say he is nothing more than a legend, others swear he's some sort of evil spirit or demon.
• The Punkin Gang is getting bold, attacking on the roads of Fleabag County, especially near Thrig and Munch.
• The Punkin Gang have a secret hideout somewhere in the Forlorn Fields.
• No one knows if the PUNKINS are real people or creatures made of sticks and twigs.

BRINGING BACK NACK

Folk live in fear from the constant Punkin Gang attacks. Worse, a farmer named Farmer Sam claims he saw witchcraft and bright displays of magic in the distance at night. Someone needs to do something!

• The Punkin Gang is gathering ingredients and reagents for a ritual to manifest a body for Old King Nack—currently an incorporeal spirit.
• Long ago, Nack was a murderous bandit king, whose soul was trapped by a goodly witch inside the very “punkin” he wore on his head. But Nack's spirit persisted in the rotten pumpkin, growing with evil magic, and from his prison gourd he corrupted the minds of wayward bandits turning them into PUNKINS. Nack has amassed a small army, but most of his minions are nothing more than ephemeral homunculi, created from sticks and straw. Since he can't break the curse of his prison, he strives to conjure a new body of flesh, strong enough to persist for all time and free from the witch's magic.
