Junktown
SettlementMucklands Sandbox Campaign Setting · p.93
Open source p.93Hex 39.13. One of the strangest cities in the Mucklands. Originally just a junkyard and landfill used by dungeoneering companies at the dawn of the Dungeon Era. Over time, a small population of salvagers gathered and began organizing, categorizing, and transforming the junk into a booming business town. As the saying goes, “One bogril's junk is another's treasure.” Soon, the denizens became known as junkmongers, and before long the junk piles grew into towering spires of trash.
Today, Junktown has the fastest growing population in Fleabag County and is a frequent traveling stop between River Country and Bogtown.
districts
- Nackadonkee District (p96)
- The Spires (p99)
- Trash Mountain (p102)
- West Bridge (p105)
what's going on
- Junktown is growing faster than any other city in the Mucklands. So much so, that there's talk of Junktown seceding from Fleabag County to become its own Kingdom of Junk, with Tabitha Towertop as its Queen.
- The mysterious Undermonger and his gang are taking over the sewers of Junktown, and eventually aim to lord over all of Junktown.
- A restless GIANT sleeping under the trash mounds threatens to cause incredible damage if he wakes up.
nackadonkee district
Located along the green banks of the mighty Nackadonkee River where fishers cast their nets and set traps. Home to several entrances to the town's large, trash-filled sewer network (The Sewers).
locations
- The Pier (p96)
- The Sewers (p98)
the pier
Dozens and dozens of small, ramshackle piers line the waters of the Nackadonkee. Enterprising fishers and farmers dock their rickety, wooden dinghies here when they aren't catching their keep.
ARNIE GIDDLE
A veteran boggart fisherman casting nets in the Nackadonkee since he was a wee lad. Arnie is a famous gossip and keeps a watchful eye on everything. Despite his nosiness, folks like him well enough.
- Traits: Easy going, oversharer, hocks loogies.
- Motivation: To be loved by everyone, even folks that are up to no good.
NANCY NORREY
A young girl that plays with her brother down by the waterfront, always looking for CRAWLBADS and other river critters. Her family has fished in Junktown since before it was Junktown. She gets frustrated over the smelly state of her home, but trusts in the smart folks in The Spires to clean it up.
- Traits: Playful, nosey, frank.
- Motivation: Wants to clean up Junktown when she's old enough.
FROWNY CINCH
Dressed in all black with fine leather gloves and knee-high boots, he stalks the Pier, making deals on behalf of the Daggerheart Pirates. No one knows how he gets word back to the Daggerhearts in Scalawag Strand, but folks say magic must be involved.
- Traits: Mysterious, smug, says “you know” all the time.
- Motivation: Be the biggest fish in a small pond. Frowny likes to feel powerful.
sights and sounds
1. A pair of goblin kids fish on a wooden pier, chewing straw.
2. Three muscular wugs help a little old woman raise her fishing boat out of the water for repairs.
3. Bogril cooks grill up some conqueror crab alongside a hulking TROLL cracking shells for them in return for food.
4. A sewer repair crew covered in green gunk curses at each other as they climb out of a manhole.
5. Music comes from a houseboat where a party is in full swing.
6. A FLINDERKIN rests on the edge of a roof, scoping out the horizon.
rumors
- A child found a Felmog coin in the Nackadonkee river, causing a rush of folks to search for lost treasure.
- Frowny Cinch works for PIRATES, and might be a SORCERER.
- There are reports of strange activity in the sewers below Junktown but the authorities deny it.
quests
THE COIN
Nancy Norrey is rich, or at least she will be once she finds the rest of the lost Felmog treasure! It's true, she did find that Felmog Coin, marked with a single candle. Nancy's mother says she should bring the coin to a Felmog Outrider who may know how much it's worth! There are always Felmog Outriders coming in and out of the Vault in Bogtown (p81).
- Any Felmog Outrider identifies the coin as a special mint used only by the Traders of Kreeth, affiliated with the Order of the Black Candle. Curiously, the Traders of Kreeth have likely never even been so far southeast as Junktown. The Felmog Outriders don't want the coin, considering it the girl's property now. However, they warn that The Black Candle will surely want it back.
- On a successful Search Check at the spot where Nancy found the coin, the PCs discover a chest with 10 pouches of Gold Coins, and a waterlogged scroll with a ruined black seal. The scroll is hard to read but says: “Pay to the Order of Baron Lankershiv of River Country.”
- If PCs spend any of it, word gets back to the River Baron Lankershiv (p195), who sends a group of BOUNTY HUNTERS to track them down.
- If the PCs take the loot to the Baron, the interaction reveals that the Baron and the Black Candle have some secret arrangement. The Baron will happily pay a reward, but something feels off about the whole thing (see quest The Pelican Thief p230).
FROWNY'S BIG PROBLEM
Frowny Cinch is in a bind, and if you can help him out, the Daggerheart Pirates will be indebted to you for sure. A top secret shipment got lost somewhere in the Quagmash from Junktown to the Scalawag Strand. And trust Frowny, if those certain somethings get loose and start growing, the Quagmash is going to have a big problem. Okay, fine, he'll tell you. It's a shipment of three baby KRAKENS! If Captain Daggerheart doesn't get his prize, there'll be hell to pay.
- ORCHES sunk Frowny's vessel in Hex 30.20.
- Three KRAKENS (L4-B) escaped, and have since moved near Sinkhole, attacking the fragile underwater architecture of the settlement! They can smell the tantalizing odor of fresh meat inside Sinkhole.
- The more time that passes, the bigger and more dangerous the KRAKENS become. They gain a Level every week.
- In exchange for catching the KRAKENS, Frowny personally outfits the PCs with a small sailing vessel with Daggerheart markings. Daggerhearts won't bother the PCs, but the Muckland Harbor Authority treats them like any ol' pirate vessel.
- HEROIC TITLE ACHIEVEMENT: Catch the KRAKENS and save Sinkhole.
- Kraken Wrangler•. The PC can't be ENTANGLED by a KRAKEN'S mighty tentacles and is unaffected by its ink cloud. When they defeat a KRAKEN, they collect 2 Kraken Ink Components automatically.
the sewers
A large, red brick tunnel runs from the Nackadonkee and into a maze of passages that wind beneath the city of Junktown. The ground is slick with slime and the ceiling drip-drops like a leaky symphony.
The sewers are a RANDOM MAZE full of waist-high trash water, toxic waste, and waterfalls.
Random CREEPERS: 1: GUTTERSNAILS, 2: MUCILLUSKS, 3: BARBECUDAS, 4: NUBLINS
On a Maze Hazard result of 2: SLURPWORMS, CLUNCH DRAGONS, or MUCKMEN.
BWAG THE EXCAVATOR
The bogril Chief Excavator in Junktown responsible for expanding the sewer and building foundations for new towers of junk. He gets almost no respect from anyone, especially Tabitha Towertop who bosses him around to no end. And so, he spends most of his days beneath the city exterminating SLURPWORMS and juvenile CLUNCH DRAGONS while chatting to his preferred company, the rats of Junktown.
- Traits: Squirrely, resentful, uncouth.
- Motivation: Tired of people and their problems, just wants to be a hermit.
THE UNDERMONGER
A mysterious crime lord who peddles in rare items and artifacts uncovered from the foundations of Junktown. The Undermonger and their minions live deep in the sewers, but they hope to rise to the surface and declare themself Sovereign of Slop, Ruler of Rubbish, Duke of Dregs, Tyrant of Trash, and the Overlord of Odds and Ends.
- Traits: Arrogant, power hungry, paranoid.
- Motivation: Create enough instability to rise up and take over Junktown, revealing their identity to the world!
quests
DEALING WITH EELS
Bwag the Excavator is up to his ears in baby CLUNCH DRAGONS, also called slarm-eels, and needs them out of the huge underground reservoir where Junktown gets its fresh water supply. The water is mucky and disgusting and the city is getting endless complaints. The thing is, Bwag isn't sure how the slarm-eels are getting inside. He's removed them several times only to have more reappear.
- Tormac Towertop is behind the plot, to make his sister Tabitha lose favor with the populace.
- As a side effect, the whole ordeal has occupied all of Bwag's attention, keeping him from uncovering anything about the Undermonger.
- With Bwag occupied, the Undermonger's gang is seizing control of more tunnels beneath the city.
rumors
- Bwag the Excavator has his hands full with a massive infestation of CLUNCH DRAGONS under Junktown.
- Some suspect that the Undermonger is actually one of the power players in disguise, like Gunk Irontooth or Tabitha Towertop.
- No one's ever seen the Undermonger's face. Some say they have no face!
THE UNDERMONGER'S RISE, PART 4
(See p100 for Parts 1–3). Following the war in the streets, you receive a ransom note informing that [the PC's favorite NPC in Junktown] is captured beneath the city! Surrender yourselves to the Undermonger, or they perish!
- The note tells the PCs to meet the Undermonger at the underground water reservoir, which now houses a trained, full-grown CLUNCH DRAGON (L6-B).
- The Undermonger has captured the NPC because the PCs have become a major thorn in their side and wants them dead.
- The number of gangsters with the Undermonger depends on how well the PCs did in Part 3 (base GANGSTERS, L3-G).
- The Undermonger accidentally reveals themself in the final fight. If things don't go their way, they'll offer to team up and rule Junktown together.
the spires
The crooked, rusty towers of Junktown peer over the rest of the city like wobbly giants. The Spires house the wealthy and influential, and act as the seat of power for Tabitha Towertop and her cohorts.
locations
- The Nest (p99)
- Castle Ratwatch (p101)
the nest
Cobbled together from a patchwork of wood, metal scraps, cardboard, and plastic sheeting, the Nest is the tallest tower in Junktown. The Nest is also home to Tabitha Towertop, and constantly packed with a plethora of traders seeking an audience. Lately, however, Tabitha is preoccupied with a series of crises plaguing her reign.
TABITHA TOWERTOP
Never formally appointed the town's leader, Tabitha climbed her way to the top of Junktown by literally accumulating wealth and influence. Able to identify almost any item and give a clear idea of its origin and value, adventurers everywhere prize Tabitha's gift. She's grown so rich and powerful, that she intends to transform Junktown into its own independent kingdom, with her as the sole ruler.
- Traits: Ambitious, haughty, knowing laugh.
- Motivation: Create a Towertop royal dynasty lasting a thousand years.
TORMAC TOWERTOP
Hates his sister Tabitha because she never includes him in her grand plans. So he's decided to make her grab for power extra difficult, and when the time is right, he'll take over control of the Nest. Tormac has been secretly sending slarm-eels into the Junktown water supply (see quest Dealing with Eels p98).
- Traits: Grumpy, self-centered, always looking for approval.
- Motivation: Ruin Tabitha and rule Junktown by himself.
sights and sounds
1. A filthy rat catcher tosses a dozen oily rats onto the Ratwatch front desk and makes a fuss about payment.
2. A one-legged bogril pushes a wheelbarrow filled with doorknobs.
3. A pair of town GUARDS wearing armor made out of pots and pans watch a puppet show, where a GATOR with a hat eats a bogril with a crown.
4. A boggle strains to lower a basket filled with what looks like lint from the towering Nest.
5. A bogril leads a BOGRILLIAN TORTOISE along the road with a cabbage on a stick covered in peanut butter.
6. Boggles divide a huge pile of junk into smaller piles, arranged by material.
rumors
- Tabitha Towertop keeps a massive store of sarpathi relics, tomes, and other cultural artifacts hidden in the Nest.
- Tabitha Towertop needs help dealing with a mysterious crime lord called the Undermonger.
- Tabitha Towertop and her brother Tormac never see eye to eye and argue incessantly.
quests
THE UNDERMONGER'S RISE, PART 1
Tabitha Towertop needs help. The Undermonger Gang has taken their troublemaking too far, threatening to destroy Junktown by blasting the foundations of the city. That is, unless Tabitha gives up her house in the Nest, and any dreams of royalty. She thought she could count on Bwag the Excavator to handle this, but he's inept! Tabitha will pay handsomely to stop the Undermonger and his wretched gang.
- Bwag the Excavator (p98) leads the PCs through the sewers, a RANDOM MAZE full of waist-high trash water, toxic waste, and waterfalls.
- Random CREEPERS: 1: GUTTERSNAILS, 2: MUCILLUSKS, 3: BARBECUDAS, 4: NUBLINS.
- On a Maze Hazard result of 2: SLURPWORMS, baby CLUNCH DRAGONS, or MUCKMEN.
- The Undermonger's hideout is hidden behind a particularly filthy waterfall.
- Inside the hideout, 16 GANGSTERS (10×L2-G, 6×2-B) are ill-prepared to deal with intruders after a late night of partying. But if the PCs cause a ruckus, the Undermonger slips away.
THE UNDERMONGER'S RISE, PART 2
Junktown is on the verge of becoming the Kingdom of Junk, and Tabitha can't afford meddling rivals at such a critical time. The mysterious Undermonger must be dealt with. She has a list of potential suspects, but needs confirmation.
- Investigate her list of four suspects: Bwag the Excavator, Gunk Ironjaw, Tormac Towertop, and Tabitha Towertop.
- The Undermonger's identity is up to the GM to decide. Here are the suspects and their motivations:
- Bwag the Excavator is tired of taking orders. He controls the sewers, he deserves to be Sovereign of Slop.
- Gunk Ironjaw (p102) resents Tabitha's power grab and will build his own tower of junk as the Ruler of Rubbish.
- Tormac Towertop, Tabitha's brother, who has been poisoning the water supply with baby CLUNCH DRAGONS. He is destined to become the Overlord of Odds and Ends!
- Tabitha Towertop is the Undermonger. No one would ever suspect her greatest enemy is a mere fabrication to destroy her enemies. All hail the Lady of Litter!
- Periodically, during their investigation the PCs will face obstacles from the real Undermonger.
- A mysterious figure shadows the PCs. If captured, they turn out to be one of the innocent suspects concerned that they're being framed as the true Undermonger.
- A group of Junktown goons forcefully suggests that the PCs quit sticking their nose into other people's business and skip town.
- A fire suddenly breaks out at one of the innocent suspects' homes! The suspect and townsfolk beg the PCs for immediate aid to put out the blaze.
THE UNDERMONGER'S RISE, PART 3
Now that the Undermonger is truly a force to be reckoned with, a major crime spree hits Junktown leaving the citizens scared and angry. Folks shout at Tabitha's tower demanding answers and retribution against the THIEVES. But Junktown's citizens are incredibly disorganized and untrained. Tabitha asks you to whip them into shape and start busting crime, and push the Undermonger's gang back to the sewers.
- The town defense force is composed of 3 squads of well-meaning, but untrained citizens.
- The PCs must describe how they train their squads. To determine each squad's Mettle skill, PCs make an Inspire Check:
- 1-2. Mettle
- 3-5. Mettle
- 6-8. Mettle
- 9-11. Mettle
- 12+. Mettle
- Assign a squad each to The Spires, Trash Mountain, and West Bridge. Based on the previous training results, each squad makes a Mettle Check to determine how successful they are in thwarting the Undermonger's forces (see quest The Undermonger's Rise, Part 4 p98).
- 1-2. The Undermonger takes control of the district (+ gangsters in Part 4).
- 3-5. The district is crime-ridden (+ gangsters in Part 4).
- 6-8. The district is contested (+ gangsters in Part 4).
- 9-11. The district is safer (- gangsters in Part 4).
- 12+. The district is well secured (- gangsters in Part 4).
- HEROIC TITLE ACHIEVEMENT: Thwart the Undermonger's forces.
- Sewer Marshal•. Once per session, while walking in a settlement, use the sewers to gain Advantage on a Sneak Check.
castle ratwatch
Home of the Ratwatch, though not a castle at all, just a tongue-in-cheek name for the rickety, wooden shack at the center of The Spire. The Ratwatch, despite being a rinky-dink outfit, are a critical public service in Junktown, as all the trash, junk and flotsam attracts a staggering amount of vermin that need to be exterminated.
CHIEF RATWATCHER RUDY
A one-eyed, surly boggle at his wit's end fighting off the vermin storming the city's wealthiest quarter. Rudy has had it up to here being pushed around by the Junktown nobility.
- Traits: Grouchy, hard working, always says: "ah, what do you know, anyway?"
- Motivation: Open up a tea house with his assistant Big Baldrick.
BIG BALDRICK WARBURGIN
Rudy's assistant; a simple-minded, delightful bugbear whose main job is to carry the Big Blue Sack and catch vermin. The rats are then transported to a farm south of West Bridge, where they are detoxed and placed into the employ of Sheesh Mandoogle to cull the KEESTERSNAP population. Baldrick has always appreciated this, as he is averse to smooshing the rats like Tabitha Towertop would prefer.
- Traits: Gentle, loves animals, says “um” a lot.
- Motivation: Find the Junktown rats a new home and help Rudy retire one day.
quests
THE RAT CATCHERS
Normally Rudy and Baldrick wouldn't ask for help, but lately they've encountered one too many KILORATS to meet quota. Help them with the KILORAT infestation by catching at least 10 and they'll give you a fair cut of their wages: 2 pouches of Copper Coins.
- The KILORATS can be easily drawn out with any sort of cheese.
A RAT IN OUR MIDST
Rudy was bitten a few days ago and has taken a turn for the worse. Baldrick may not be one for smarts, but he's sure this isn't any run-of-the-mill rat bite. Search the Spires for the infected KILORAT, capture it, and take it to Doc Popper's Clinic in West Bridge to find a cure.
- The aggressive KILORAT (L5-C) can be found with a 9+ Search Check or lured out with enough exceptional cheese. If bitten, a PC must make a Vitality Check to resist being CURSED (presents as an infection: stiff neck, fatigue, sores, fever).
- Doc Popper has bad news: the KILORAT isn't diseased, it's CURSED with lycanthropy. Only a WITCH can cure lycanthropy, and the only one in town is Itch the WITCH, a quortle living in the sewers.
rumors
- Castle Ratwatch is overrun by not only rats, but KILORATS.
- Rudy the Ratwatcher has fallen deathly ill from a KILORAT bite.
- At Doc Popper's Clinic, Baldrick rushes in and proclaims that Rudy has gone missing, after raving about craving cheese.
- A giant rat (Rudy, now a wererat) has ransacked the Gourmet Cheesery in the Spire, causing a huge commotion in town. Folks are furious that Rudy and Baldrick aren't doing their jobs.
- Rudy has transformed into a wererat and is hiding in the storeroom beneath the Gourmet Cheesery.
- Itch the Witch is actually the source of the CURSE. The kilorats are her family and protectors, so this is her revenge on the Ratwatchers for exterminating them. Itch can be persuaded to cure Rudy (and any PCs), as long as the KILORATS are spared from now on.
- If Tabitha Towertop or the public catch wind of this, a militia gathers with torches and pitchforks to run Itch and her rats out of town.
- HEROIC TITLE ACHIEVEMENT: Cure Rudy of lycanthropy.
- The Ratwatcher•. Gain Proficiency in Rat Wrangling and inflict +2 Dread against rats and rat-like Adversaries.
trash mountain
A massive pile of garbage and junk of all kinds, and a reminder of the Dungeon Era's unchecked industrial surge and waste, not to mention the cultural compulsions of junkmongers to save everything for later.
locations
- The Heap (p102)
- Falderal Hauler Co. (p104)
the heap
Stinky, chaotic, and enormous, the Heap is the largest junk pile in all of Junktown. The site is always flooded with junkmongers collecting and sorting rubbish like bees in their hive. Junk from all over the Mucklands eventually ends up monetized by the junkmongers, mashed into cubes by trash compactors, or burned, producing constant black smoke. Only the especially nasty stuff is loaded onto garage-barges set for the Nackadonkee, then into the Quagmash, and ultimately out to sea in the Scalawag Strand.
GUNK IRONJAW
As unique as they come, Gunk is a real live, talking GATOR from the backwaters of River Country. He wears what he calls his “thinking cap,” a device that makes him a sentient (albeit ornery) person, instead of your average, bogril- eating river GATOR. Gunk spends his days in his junk shop, selling wares, but always keeps an eye out for anyone getting too close to his precious thinking cap.
- Traits: Irritable, distrustful, loves bad jokes.
- Motivation: Live life free from the fear of losing his thinking cap.
GROODY
A GIANT who, for as long as anyone remembers, has been fast asleep in the center of Trash Mountain, until now. He seems to be waking, shifting and turning, and causing all kinds of mayhem. Groody's snores are like thunder, his heavy breaths like an earthquake. No one remembers if the Heap was built on Groody or if Groody wandered in by accident, but if something isn't done about it, the whole mountain might crumble.
- Traits: Depressed, regretful, groggy.
- Motivation: Sleep through his depression and forget the past.
sights and sounds
1. A round bogril woman picks through a heap of refuse and giggles with glee as she pulls out a backscratcher.
2. A MERGA TOAD burps out an empty can of Sporg and hops into a mound of trash.
3. A lonely wug pushes a giant ball of foil up a steep garbage spire.
4. Trash Mountain rumbles and shakes, as everyone around you braces for an avalanche that never comes.
5. A shrym in an ornithopter haphazardly hovers to the top of a heap and takes a swig of rascal cider.
6. Three boggles chase a young THIEF into a trash tunnel.
rumors
- Groody the GIANT is so depressed they've decided to sleep for a hundred years.
- Trash Mountain could avalanche at any moment.
- Gunk Ironjaw eats anyone who lies about the value of their junk.
outbound rumors
- A shrym sputter-wizard named Odus Radling in Beezelburf is looking for information on a “mechanical hat” or some such.
SKITCH WHISTLETOOTH
The foremost trash architect of Trash Mountain. Skitch is a boggle who spends her days fortifying the inner bowels of the mountain, preventing collapses and avalanches. It's a hard job and she has few employees at her disposal, but somehow she maintains Trash Mountain with only a few missing persons a week.
- Traits: Determined, fussy, overworked.
- Motivation: Protect the folks of Junktown from getting flattened by an avalanche.
quests
BODYGUARDS FOR A GATOR
Gunk Ironjaw wants bodyguards for a trip to Thrig to appraise the largest foil ball in all of the Mucklands. It would be Gunk's first trip outside of Junktown since he moved there!
- Gunk Ironjaw doesn't let on at first, but he's terrified of Odus Radling (p67), the inventor of the thinking cap that's made Gunk a genius. He swears Radling knows about him and is out to get him.
- A DRATCH (L4-B) hired by Odus Radling to find his thinking cap, found out about Gunk and plans to ambush him and steal the cap back.
- The DRATCH threatened and bribed the real foil ball's owner, Minky Sammish, to let him hide in a false foil ball and ambush Gunk.
THE DOODS
At the request of Tabitha Towertop, a gaggle of DOODS has been brought into Trash Mountain from Murnelly's Dood Ranch to cut down on the sheer volume of refuse threatening to avalanche. DOODS are ravenous, dim-witted critters, and sometimes eat the wrong trash claim, causing incessant disputes. Help Skitch Whistletooth sort through the complaints or even better, get rid of these DOODS!
THE SLUMBERING GIANT
Groody the GIANT wandered into the Heap many years ago and hasn't left since. Since then, he's been buried under tons of trash in a deep slumber. Lately it seems Groody has been restless, tossing and turning, causing avalanches and trash slides. Skitch Whistletooth believes that if something isn't done, the whole mountain might crumble.
- Skitch thinks the best course of action is to somehow ease the GIANT'S fitful sleep back to deep slumber.
- If disturbed, Groody is only half-awake and ornery. He refuses to leave, despite being a serious threat to everyone on Trash Mountain.
- The problem is Groody has a broken heart after breaking up with Bom, his mate of 170 years. Groody said “some things he regrets,” but doesn't think an apology will do. She lives in the mountains at the edge of River Country.
- If the PCs help Groody and Bom patch things up, he leaves Junktown forever. But even if he's willing, it takes a heavy duty operation to extricate him from the Heap without causing massive damage.
- HEROIC TITLE ACHIEVEMENT: Ensure that Groody and Bom repair their relationship.
- The Love Doctor•. Gain Proficiency in Relationship Counseling.
falderal hauler co.
A huge, walled trash yard with a fleet of massive flatbed wagons and a gargantuan garbage-barge. A pair of clucking chickens sit atop a small, unkempt office belonging to Falderal Hauler owners, Jed Wadworth and Percy Nandunner. When they're not ordering around their army of haulers, they are sailing their odious barge from Fleabag County to Scalawag Strand by way of the Nackadonkee River.
JED WADWORTH
A boggart entrepreneur that claims he started the trash hauling business by trading a paperclip to a junkmonger and bartering it into a fortune. Jed's a happy-go-lucky opportunist, who isn't afraid of getting dirty in the pursuit of making some coin.
- Traits: Entrepreneurial, morally flexible, always tries to trade with people.
- Motivation: Make money. Specifically, a ton of money.
PERCY NANDUNNER
A boggart from River Country and Jed's best pal. He never was much for working hard, but knows a thing or two about sailing boats. Percy, or Cap'n Percy, is responsible for sailing their garbage-barge every couple months to Scalawag Strand.
- Traits: Easy-going, lazy, says “stoked” a lot.
- Motivation: Spend his best days on the water, free and easy.
quests
TRASH SMUGGLERS
The Nackadonkee District has been producing twice the amount of garbage in the last several weeks. Jed's a smart guy and suspects someone must be smuggling goods down the Nackadonkee. Help him scrounge through the latest garbage haul from the Nackadonkee District for smuggled goods.
- A successful Search Check reveals jars of black powder concealed in trash bags. Jed guesses someone is trying to avoid paying export tariffs with Muckland Harbor Port Authority.
- Melliot the Powdermonger has a deal with the Blood REEF NYADS in the Scalawag Strand. In return for blackpowder, he gets a sizable payment from a weird pirate-looking guy.
- The PIRATE is Daggerheart operative, Frowny Cinch. He does business down on the Pier.
- The REEF NYADS and Daggerhearts plan to use the blackpowder in a joint attack on Conch and Muckland Harbor, respectively.
rumors
- There's twice as much garbage coming out of the Nackadonkee District as there should be. Jed Wadworth swears up and down its smugglers, but doesn't have the time to sort through the trash and prove it.
- Falderal Hauler Co. will transport passengers on the garbage barge and take them all the way to Scalawag Strand for 1 pouch of Silver Coins and a hand with the garbage.
- A cadre of Green Gallivanters were poking around Falderal Hauler Co.'s garbage-barge.
DOWN THE NACKADONKEE
Cap'n Percy will take anyone down the Nackadonkee River to Anchorbottom in the Scalawag Strand for 1 pouch of Silver Coins. You just have to sleep in trash, oh, and help unload it into the ocean once you get there.
- A righteous group of Green Gallivanters have set up an ambush in the Quagmash, intent on stealing the Falderal Hauler Co. garbage-barge so it can't pollute the ocean any longer.
- Cap'n Percy is prepared for battle with anti-personnel war cannons, and when the Green Gallivanters (WARRIORS 6×L2-G, 2×L3-B) attack, he demands the PCs help defend the ship.
west bridge
A district with homes built right on top of the old stone bridge spanning the babbling Nackadinky River. West Bridge is a quiet suburban quarter, where Doc Popper's Clinic, the West Bridge Farmer's Market, and several well-to-do households enjoy a clean environment away from Trash Mountain.
