Character sheet (verbatim from source)
Baratus Archatese was a cavalryman
in the Katalian army in the 130’s -140s
AK. The second son of a wealthy grain
merchant, Baratus joined the Army
and went on campaign against Grekos,
and then Assan. It was in Assan,
fighting against the Taurans, that he
made a name for himself. He swiftly
rose in rank until by the end of the
Assanian campaign, he was made
General of the eastern Legion.
Baratus moved his army south,
conquering Jodarra in 135 AK, on his
way to Kehmet. At the time, Kehmet
was without a King, and the
priesthood saw Baratus as the
potential fulfillment of a prophecy, in
which a Sun King from a foreign land
would be crowned and bring about a
new golden age.
The former Sun King’s only surviving
descendant, the Princess Semia Aua,
went to greet Archatese at his camp in
Jodarra near the border with Kehmet.
She was immediately infatuated with
him and warned the general of the
politics of her kingdom. One faction
wanted him to become king, and one
wanted him dead.
The latter devised a test for Archatese.
To prove he was indeed the fulfillment
of prophecy, he had to travel deep
into the desert and slay the Dragon
Tamra, Lord of the Skies. This they
knew would be his death sentence.
Despite knowing this, Baratus
accepted the challenge and travelled
into the desert. Some months later,
after Semia had long thought him
dead, Baratus returned with the head
of the Dragon, strapped to his camel’s
back.
Baratus and Semia were wed in 136
AK, making him the new Sun King of
Kehmet. When word reached the
Emperor, he was furious, but
Archatese travelled to Katal soon after
and paid homage to the Emperor,

vowing to remain loyal and pay annual
tribute to him.
