Eric Ii De Ardaran

Eric II de Ardaran was Duke of 
Forkdale from 289 AK to 305 AK. From 
his castle at Forksdale, Erik ruled the 
towns of Ardaran, Byrth, Forksdale, 
Garald's Rock, and Korin. Forksdale 
had good relations with the Halflings 
of Halfling Dale to the west, with the 
Dwarves of Mordek-Tek and the 
Gnomes of Sven-Tobrach to the south, 
and with the Elves of Tael`Selem and 
the Kingdom of Drakkar to the 
East.  Its only enemies were the Orcs 
who infest the Sawtooth Hills, 
particularly those from the Severed 
Head tribe. But with military aid from 
Drakkar via Temple Bridge, Forksdale 
had always been able to keep the Orcs 
at bay. 
That changed in 302 A.K. when 
Vaadmoor began an invasion of 
Drakkar. The undead forces of 
Vaadmoor made spectacular gains in 
the first few months of the war and 
managed to start the siege of the 
Drakkaran capital in early 303 AK. 
Forksdale was left vulnerable, and the 
Orcs of the Severed Head wasted no 
time. They quickly seized the town of 
Jered's Rock and made their way to 
Forksdale, where they began a siege. 

The siege ended in failure for the Orcs 
when Lord Eric’s forces were able to 
rally from the castle in the winter of 
303 with the help of a group of 
Heroes. Knowing that the Orcs would 
soon be back in even greater 
numbers, Lord Erik allowed the group 
of local heroes led by Dorn 
Firehammer to escort most of the 
local population North in search of 
safer settlement. They eventually 
found a home in the Chael Ri valley. 
 Forksdale was sacked by the Orcs 
later that winter, the town was burnt 
to the ground, and Lord Erik and his 
officers were flayed and hanged from 
the battlements of his castle by the 
Orcish invaders. Not until near the end 
of the Dalelands war was Forksdale 
finally liberated.  
CALIGULA – THE ICE LORD 
Caligula was born Thracian, son of 
Arturos, heir to the throne of Katalia 
in 110 AK. He was born an albino and 
suffered his whole youth from a weak 
constitution. However, in his red eyes 
burned a fire of determination. 
Practically abandoned by his father as 
a youth, Thracian worked and trained 
hard to overcome his weaknesses.  
By young adulthood, he started to 
show enough promise that he was 
allowed to participate in the campaign 
to conquer the North. It was in the 
North that Thracian became Caligula. 
He subdued, conquered, or allied with 
most of the Northman tribes, and 
then disappeared for several months 
in the depths of winter.  
He returned with an army of 
Baahlspawn at his back, riding on the 
back of a White Dragon. With his 
massive armies, he conquered the 
western parts of Formoria. His 
brutality with the Elves of the region 
brought loud complaints from 
Katalia’s Elven allies in the Valley of 
the Myst.  
The Emperor demanded that his son, 
Thracian, return and answer for his 
atrocities. But Thracian was no more. 
Caligula returned, killed his father, and 
crowned himself Emperor.  A few 
Generals bent the knee. Others were 
assassinated by Caligula’s agents.  
It was Baratus Archatese that led the 
rebellion against Caligula. Eventually, 
fighting him all the way to Formoria, 
where in 143 AK, Caligula finally met 

his end at the Blood Plain of 
Mordaran.  
QUOMRIM – THE GREENWYRM 
Quomrim the Greenwyrm was a 
Green Dragon that ruled over the 
Wyrmwood for several hundred years. 
In the years prior to Calligula’s 
invasion of Formoria and the 
subsequent Battle of the Blood Plain 
of Mordaran, the Wyrmwood was 
home to several Green dragons, as 
well as various tribes of Baahlspawn 
and a tribe of Wild Elves. When 
Calligula invaded, he used the Book of 
Baahl (a powerful artifact that allows 
its possessor to control Baahlspawn) 
to bolster his armies in Formoria. The 
Wild Elves of the Wyrmwood were 
slaughtered and scattered, fleeing 
north into the Norwood. However, 
one of the Elves, named Arathorn, 
remained behind deep in the 
Wyrmwood in what was to become 
known as the Vale of Lost Souls. He 
went mad from grief and was soon 
found by Quomrim. Quomrim 
“befriended” Arathorn and used his 
grief to twist him to his bidding. 
 
Some years later, in around 169 AK, 
Arathorn encountered three Knights 
of Temple Bridge who said they were 
on Pilgrimage to Archatia. However, 
secretly, the knights were transporting 
the Book of Baahl, which was captured 
after the Defeat of Calligula, to 
Archatia for safekeeping. Arathorn 
invited the knights to camp with him 
and rest a while, and there they met 
Quomrim in Elf-form. Quomrim 
sensed the power and evil of the 
artifact the Knights carried, and 
Arathorn and Quomrim slew the 
knights and took the book.  
Quomrim did not at first understand 
what he had, but he nevertheless kept 
the book as a prized possession, 
guarding it jealously from Arathorn. 
Over the decades, Arathorn eventually 
convinced Quomrim to allow him to 
study the artifact, always under 
Quomrim's watchful gaze. Through it, 
Arathorn has been able to summon to 
him most of the Baahlspawn in the 
Wyrmwood. Including Goblins, 
Bugbears, Ogres, Trolls, Ettins, and Hill 
Giants.  
These Arathorn and Quomrim at first 
set against each other for their own 
amusement, but soon they began to 
use them as bandits and raiders, 
having them collect treasure for 

Quomrim's growing hoard. This 
attracted the attention of the other 
Wyrms of the Wood, and several tried 
to kill Quomrim and take his lair and 
hoard, but each time Quomrim was 
able to use his Bhaalspawn servants 
and Arathorn's magic to help him 
defeat his more powerful enemies. 
Over time, Quomrim the Greenwyrm 
became the undisputed Lord of the 
forest, and no one dared to enter. 
Over the years, the knowledge of 
Quomrim was forgotten, but secretly 
he posed as the “Bandit King of the 
Wymwood” and all the Bandit Gangs 
of the region owed him fealty and 
continued to supply him with 
Treasure. 
 
Eventually, Quomrim was slain by the 
host of King Tyrius at the Battle of the 
Hilltop in 306 AK. Arathorn was freed 
from the curse of Quomrim by the 
Gnome Gimble Folkor and returned to 
the Norwood to heal among his own 
people. The Book of Baahl, however, 
was never found.
