This ancient grimoire was created in the First Age. It is said that its velum pages are made from the skins of elves, its leather cover from the screaming faces of dwarves, and that Baahl himself penned the pages in ink made from the blood of Men. Baahlspawn are unpredictable and nearly impossible to control in any significant number. However, the one Legendary Items who studies this tomb and learns its secrets can use this powerful artifact to amass and control whole armies of Baahlspawn. Study of the Book takes one full uninterrupted week, after which the reader will be completely lost to Shadow (see alignment). The Book binds the wielder's soul to Baahl, and only the most powerful priestly magic can sunder the link. Once so bound, the wielder of the book gains the following abilities. Control Baahlspawn. All Baahlspawn within Far will be under the wielder's complete command and control, even to the point of performing self- destructive acts, if the wielder commands it. Once controlled in this way, the affected Baahlspawn will continue to follow the last command they were given by the wielder, even if the wielder is no longer in range, but will otherwise act normally. Summon Baahlspawn. The wielder of the Book has the ability once per day to call up to 15 LV of Baahlspawn. These creatures must be within 24 hours travel distance and will immediately drop everything and move to answer the Book’s call. They will use their own means (walking, running, riding, etc.) to get to their new master.
