Theoderic, son of Sigeric, is the Duke
of Forksdale. When news of Eric II’s

death finally reached Caleon and his
brother’s widow, Livinia, she saw it as
an opportunity to make a claim on the
Dalelands. Her son, Theoderic, had a
more direct claim to Forksdale than
anyone. Theoderic was only 12 years
old at the time of Eric’s death, and by
the time they reached Caeirkult by
ship in 306 AK, he was but 14. At the
time of his arrival, Tyrius de Ardaran
was in Aelion rallying support to make
war on Quomrim, when suddenly he
had to face a challenge to his claim
over the Dalelands.
Tyrius had no choice but to recognize
the rightful claim of Theoderic over
Forksdale, but rather than bend the
knee to him, he demanded that
Theoderic pledge himself to Tyrius as
King. Although Livinia was furious,
there was little she could do. The
political winds were behind Tyrius.
Theoderic accepted and was given
Forksdale and the surrounding lands
as his duchy.
Theoderic was young and
inexperienced, and throughout his
youth, he lionized his heroic older
cousin Tyrius, much to Livinia’s
dismay. Tyrius helped Theoderic
rebuild Forksdale, including a stone
wall around the southern half of the
city. However, Forksdale was still poor
in comparison to the immense wealth
of Ardaran. As Theoderic became an
adult, he looked upon his King with a
degree of envy and the growing
realization that by right of blood, he
should be at the head of the de
Ardaran dynasty.
