Buying new gear
His Majesty the Worm · p.163
Open source p.163During step 5 of the City Phase (Upkeep), you determine what you purchase for your next adventure. These prices are abstracted. You don’t tally your money for each torch, each ration, or each dagger. Rather, you fill your pack—as much as it can hold—based on your upkeep level (or lower): impoverished, common, or luxurious.

Just about anything can be purchased at the Omphalic Market.
- Impoverished items are things you can find inside a cotter’s kitchen.
- Common items are things you might find in a wealthy merchant’s house.
- Luxurious items are things owned only by the clergy or nobility.
Players, ask your GM if there’s a normal, everyday object that you want but can’t find listed here. The GM will set its price level (impoverished, common, or luxurious).
If the item you’re looking for is unique, use the Commission Craft action during step 6 of the City Phase instead.
See page 37 for rules about your pack, belt, slots, and carrying capacity.
