Cultural Templates

Cultural background is a powerful
defining concept in many settings. For
instance, Alexander the Great was first
and foremost a Macedonian, and this
identified him throughout his adven-
tures. A cultural template might spec-
ify the genetic traits of a closed breed-
ing group, skills taught to all members
of a culture, or the beliefs and preju-
dices of a given tribe, nation, or reli-
gion. It will often include Cultural
