Research

The world is set aside for study. Most such worlds
are parallels. Types include:
Anomalies: Worlds that show some interesting but
not obviously dangerous variations in physical laws.
Cultural Preserves: Worlds left as “controls” to judge
the effect of intervention on other, similar timelines.
Nature Preserves: Worlds with interesting wildlife,
such as dinosaurs . . . or dragons.
Primitives: Parallel worlds inhabited by Bronze Age
or earlier man. (There is continuing pressure to allow
more exploitation of these worlds.)
