Starting Disposition
His Majesty the Worm · p.100
Open source p.100A character’s starting Disposition informs the GM how that creature should initially act, how hostile or friendly it is to the guild, and what they’re likely to demand in a parlay.
Sometimes a character’s starting Disposition will be obvious based on the scenario in which the guild encounters them. If there is any question, or if randomness is desired, the GM should look at the top card in the discard pile of the minor arcana.
Characters with positive Dispositions (e.g., joy, trust) negotiate in good faith. They will acquiesce to reasonable requests in exchange for a reasonable exchange from the guild. Characters with intense positive Dispositions might even provide extra aid and advice.
Characters with negative Dispositions (e.g., angry, distaste) want to bring the conversation to an end. They don’t have any interest in exchanging goods or services with the guild. If the encounter continues at all, it will be in a combative capacity—transition to the Challenge Phase.
