Stress
His Majesty the Worm · p.96
Open source p.96Adventuring is nasty and uncomfortable. When you undergo a traumatic experience or suffer physical distress, check the Stressed condition. In short, when you’re shivering, hungry, or terrified, you are Stressed.
Being Stressed has no immediate negative effects, but it makes recovery during the Camp Phase more taxing. You must clear Stressed before healing any other condition.
The GM is the ultimate arbiter of what introduces Stress or not. In general, being Stressed is less serious than taking actual physical harm, but makes your adventurer angry, weak, sore, or miserable.
Example stressors: exposure to extreme elements without the appropriate gear; magically terrifying monsters like liches or dragons; self-harm; extremely mundane, boring, and repetitive tasks; long-term social isolation; witnessing torture; and so on.
