Creating interesting characters
His Majesty the Worm · p.180
Open source p.180It’s your job to portray characters with personalities that are evocative, strange, conflicting, and clearly broadcast. This is true for all creatures that you control, no matter how monstrous!
Each character you introduce should have a personality defined by their dislikes and likes, wants and needs.
- Dislikes are gates to the character’s heart.
- Likes are the key.
- Wants are aspirational character desires.
- Needs are foundational character desires.
Understanding a character’s personality allows you to arbitrate the guild’s attempts to bargain with them fairly. Reference the Dispositions on page 99 for role-playing guidance.
